Firmware Update Aqua-X Pro (NFS-2)

TrolMaster provides firmware updates for their products. Firmware is the program running
inside of the controller or module. Updating the firmware provides updated features as well as to
fix bugs in the programming. For best performance, when installing the controller, you should
ALWAYS verify the current firmware installed in your controller is the most recent version. See
below on how to check firmware version.

There are two different firmware types, the MAIN controller firmware, and the DEVICE module
firmware. The following discusses how to update the Touchscreen type of TrolMaster main
controllers.

Requirements: If your main controller is connected to the internet, you can get
the firmware update online through our server. If the unit has not internet connectivity, you will
need a USB thumbdrive 32 GB or smaller capacity.

TO CHECK CURRENT FIRMWARE VERSION: From the main screen on the controller,
press the Settings icon in the upper right corner. Select System Reset – Firmware Update. The
current firmware version will be displayed.

If you have determined that you need to update the firmware, you may first want to save /
backup all of the current settings within the controller. Follow the process below to save your
settings.

TO SAVE ALL OF THE CURRENT SETTINGS ON THE USB DRIVE:
*Note: Updating the firmware may remove all current settings. You can first save all of
the settings on the controller by using the Import / Export function. If you do not want to
save settings, skip these steps.

  • 1) To save all the settings, select the Settings icon in the upper right corner.
  • 2) Then select Import / Export.
  • 3) Now select Export all Settings.
  • 4) The Export file location will be auto selected. You will have to select a name for the file
in the Export File Name window.
  • 5) Once you select a file name, press Export to save the settings to the USB drive.
  • 6) When the Export is complete, you can now complete the firmware update.
TO UPDATE THE FIRMWARE ONLINE:
  • 1) From the main screen on the controller, press the Settings icon in the upper right corner.
  • 2) Select System Reset – Firmware Update.
  • 3) Select to Update from Cloud
  • 4) When complete the unit will restart.

*Note: Some firmware updates require a Factory Reset be completed after the firmware is updated.

TO GET THE NEWEST FIRMWARE UPDATE FILE:

  • 1) Go to https://www.trolmaster.com
  • 2) Select Support – Firmware Update
  • 3) Scroll down the firmware list until you find the controller you are trying to update.
  • 4) Click on the Arrow on the right to start to download the file to your computer.
  • 5) Depending on your browser, the file should be saved into your download folder.
  • 6) Open the download folder and locate the file you are saving. For example, for the Hydrox controller, the filename may read update_pro Make sure the filename does not have a
number in parentheses (1), (2) etc after the filename. If so, delete the (1), (2) etc.
  • 7) Copy the file onto the USB drive using either copy-paste or drag and drop the file on the
    USB drive.
  • 8) Once the file is on the USB drive, you can now insert the card into USB port on the
bottom – left of the controller.
