What is Deadband?

The deadband setting is basically the difference between the point at which the device is switched on (the setpoint) and the point at which the device is switched off (the deadband). The smaller the dead zone is set, the more switch-on and switch-off cycles the device is exposed to, which can lead to premature failure of the device to be controlled.
